The environmental NGO Astiki Melissa and producers and consumers' community Mpostani are set to present an informative talk about the value of insects in the production and variety of vegetables and which produce would disappear if insects were to go extinct. The event will take place at the Kypseli Municipal Market (agorakypselis.gr) between 3 and 5 p.m. with free admission.

Dozens arrested, deported in Athens crime crackdown
Police have announced that 62 foreign nationals were arrested and deported for criminal activity in the center of Athens as part of an ongoing operation to crack down on crime.
The operation from September 26 to November 10 focused mainly on the areas of Agios Panteleimon, Kallithea, Acropolis, Kypseli, Omonia and Patission.

Two officers injured, man arrested in Athens car chase
Two officers of the DIAS motorcycle unit were injured during a car chase in central Athens early Thursday morning.
Police said a patrol car crew spotted a vehicle moving on the wrong direction on Pipinou Street at around 2:15 in the morning, and signaled the driver to stop, but he sped off. A chase ensued, involving other police forces, including the DIAS team.
Athens open to ideas about public space design for busy neighborhoods
The City of Athens has announced an open competition for public space design ideas in downtown districts like Kolonaki, Exarchia and Kypseli, which are frequented by thousands of people every day and are to get busier as new subway stations are being built there.
Small explosive device goes off outside Kypseli apartment block
Police are investigating an attack with a homemade explosive device made of a plastic container and flammable liquid outside an apartment building in the district of Kypseli, central Athens, early Saturday morning.
The device went off at 5.20 a.m. at the entrance of the building located on Patriarchou Ieremia Street, police said.
Teen gang stealing from shops dismantled
Police said on Wednesday they had dismantled a gang of minors accused of systematically stealing from shops in areas of Attica.
The gang has been linked to 26 cases of theft from shops in Omonia, Kypseli, Galatsi, Ambelokipi, Palaio Faliro, Peristeri, Aegaleo and Nikaia and one house. A 16-year-old Greek and two Albanian nationals, aged 15 and 17, were arrested on Tuesday.

Mother handed life sentence for murder of 7-year-old son
A court in Athens convicted on Monday a 30-year-old woman to life in prison over the brutal murder of her seven-year-old son in 2017.
Two vehicles destroyed overnight arson attack
An overnight arson attack destroyed two vans owned by private gas company.
No one was hurt in the incident which took place in the downtown Athens district of Kypseli around 1.45 a.m. Wednesday.
The motives for the attack were unclear.
Police have launched an investigation.

Man arrested for holding party with 42 people in central Athens
Officers arrested on Tuesday night a man who held a party in his apartment in the central Athenian district of Kypseli with 42 guests, in defiance of the measures to restrict the spread of the coronavirus.
