Outdoor cinemas reopen to the public

They are only allowed to run at 75 percent capacity, with open bars and no breaks. Only cinema employees are obliged to wear face masks.

Recent arson attacks, violence may be linked to anarchist turf war

Police in Athens are investigating whether a spate of arson attacks on "establishment" targets and a fight involving members of a soccer fan club may be part of an effort by organized anarchist groups to establish new turf in other parts of the city center after being ousted from the downtown district of Exarchia.

Three hurt in 5.6-level tremor in western Greece

Three people sustained minor injuries after a strong quake, measuring 5.6 on the Richter scale, struck the seaside town of Parga in western Greece.

According to the National Observatory's Geodynamic Institute, the quake was recorded at 2.49 a.m., with its epicenter located 14 kilometers northwest of Parga, at a depth of 10 kilometers.

Lambrakis, Polychronopoulos, Tzavaras | Athens | January 22

Musicians Harris Lambrakis, Spyros Polychronopoulos and Vassilis Tzavaras will appear on stage at TV Control Center (KET) in the downtown district of Kypseli on Wednesday, January 22. Joining forces for the first time, the artists will present an improvised set with Lambrakis on the ney and keyboards, Polychronopoulos on laptop and Tzavaras on the guitar and keyboards.

Brunch Event | Athens | January 19

The Kypseli Municipal Market hosts its first 2020 pop-up brunch event between 11 a.m and 6 p.m. on Sunday, January 19. Light savory dishes, sweets and specialty coffee will be on offer against a spicy musical backdrop provided by Pepper Radio 96.6. Entrance is free and the event is suitable for families.

New Library | Athens | November 1 & 2

We Need Books, an Athens-based NGO dedicated to creating small libraries and cultural spaces that provide marginalized refugees and migrants with access to literature, information, conversation and company, is launching its new venue, a multilingual library, on November 1 and 2 in the downtown Athens district of Kypseli. Doors will open at 7 p.m.
