New Democracy (ND) leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis met on Monday with Alternate Minister for Migration Policy Yiannis Mouzalas to discuss the refugee crisis.

Mouzalas said after the meeting that “there was convergence of views on the issue that the refugees problem is a national issue and that we must act together to confront the problem”.

New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis in an interview with “Proto Thema” newspaper stressed the big ideological differences between him and Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras.

He also added that he will continue exercising a responsible and “constructive opposition” without, though, giving his full consent to an irresponsible government.

The main opposition conservative New Democracy party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis showed his usual brand of humor with a Tweet dedicated to Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras. In particular, Mitsotakis tweeted the cartoon sketch by Dimitris Handzopoulos from kathimerini showing the two leaders boxing. As Kyriakos punches Tsipras he says:

The debate on social security will be pivotal in determining the capabilities of the two adversaries.

Greek farmers are hardening their stand against planned social security reforms for the agriculture sector being tabled by the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government. Day-by-day there is an increase in blocked roads.

Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras addressed an event titled “One Year Left, One Year Battle. We Proceed” at the Tae Kwon Do stadium at Paleo Faliro, Athens. The event commemorates his first-year anniversary as Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) Prime Minsiter since first assuming office on January 25, 2015.

Conservative New Democracy (ND) deputy Nikos Georgiadis, considered to be the right-hand man of the new ND party leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis, announced his decision to resign so as to defend himself against allegations that implicate him in a sex scandal involving children. He points to insidious “mud-slinging” against him that serves political purposes.

The newly elected leader of New Democracy Kyriakos Mitsotakis and Potami leader Stavors Theodorakis had their first meeting in the Parliament.

Arriving at the Parliament, Mr. Theodorakis told reporters that the “dialogue is useful, it’s not just for us to feel good”.
