Triglav Glacier mission ends with 16,000 trees

Pokljuka – A project as part of which a fraction of a glacier from Slovenia travelled to the Beijing Winter Olympics has ended as 16,000 trees have been planted in Slovenia this year to offset the CO2 emissions generated during the 13,000-kilometre journey from Mojstrana in the Julian Alps to the Chinese capital for the 2022 Olympics.

Bursa to host fourth Nomad Games

The fourth World Nomad Games will be held near Lake İznik in the northwestern province of Bursa between Sept. 29 and Oct. 2, with around 3,000 athletes from 40 countries competing across 13 disciplines.

The organization, dedicated to ethnic sports practiced in Central Asia, include wrestling, hunting with eagles and equestrian events.

Discussion highlights serious wastewater issues in mountain areas

Ljubljana – Calls to restrict the ever growing hiking industry in Slovenia’s mountains were heard at a press conference by environmental group Cipra Slovenija, which highlighted serious issues with waste water management. Compounded by climate change, pollution is affecting streams and could threaten access to drinking water, experts warned.

Ruling party will not compete in presidential race

Ljubljana – The Freedom Movement has decided not to pick an alternative candidate after the ruling party’s vice-leader Marta Kos quit the presidential race. Party leader, Prime Minister Robert Golob announced on Wednesday that the party council would decide in a fortnight which of the other candidates to endorse.
