Only 20 decks of Çanakkale Bridge left to be united

Officials have placed the 67th deck of all 87 decks of the Çanakkale Bridge, aiming to finish joining the bridge road that will connect the European and the Asian sides of the strait by the end of September.

The bridge, nicknamed "neckband of Çanakkale Strait," will be opened to public service on the 107th anniversary of the Çanakkale Victory on March 18, 2022.

Mosaic in Çanakkale unearthed

Work is underway to uncover a colossal mosaic, which was found during an illegal excavation in the Lapseki district of the northwestern province of Çanakkale in May and evaluated as a 1,500-year-old artifact. The 120-square-meter mosaic dates back to the late Roman and early Byzantine periods.

24 companies take specifications for 1915 Çanakkale Bridge bid, almost half foreign: Minister

A total of 24 companies have taken specifications for Turkey's 1915 Çanakkale Bridge, planned to be completed and opened in 1923, Transportation, Maritime Affairs and Communications Minister Ahmet Arslan has said.

Four of the companies are from Japan, three are from China, two are from South Korea and one is from Italy, state-run Anadolu Agency reported on Jan. 18.
