An association created by the relatives of victims and survivors of the deadly Tempe rail crash in central Greece on February 28 is holding a protest rally in front of Parliament in Athens on Tuesday.

The plan presented on Friday in Larissa by Regional Governor Dimitris Kouretas outlines the need for a new approach to agricultural production in Thessaly, and includes the doubling of Lake Karla's size and its conversion into an irrigation reservoir.

Greenpeace has submitted 10 proposals to rekindle agricultural production on the Thessaly plain in central Greece, which was devastated by cataclysmic floods in September. 

The train service between Larissa and Rapsani in central Greece is due to resume on Monday, the railroad's manager has said. 

Hellenic Train said that damage caused on that stretch of the rail network by a devastating storm in September has been repaired, allowing the connection between Thessaly's regional capital and wine country to go back into operation. 

The residents of 35 villages in central Greece were told to be ready to evacuate on Saturday, as water continued to flood the vast Thessaly Plain where a three-day thunderstorm brought unprecedented amounts of water to the region. 

The damage caused to the railway network from Domokos station to Krannonas, about 10 kilometers outside Larissa, stretches, according to reports, for about 50 km.

Hellenic Railways (OSE) CEO Panagiotis Terzakis said the damage is to the tracks, light signals on power poles, stations and the infrastructure network in general.

Rescue teams took people out of floodwaters in inflatable boats and in bulldozers on Saturday as they moved into villages hit hardest by a sweeping rainstorm that killed at least 10 people in central Greece this week.

Larissa, the capital and largest city of the Thessaly region, is on high alert as the level of the Pinios River rose 10 meters in places overnight.

Severe flooding has been reported in some of the city's suburbs while the city center remains unaffected.

The death toll from storm Daniel that began battering central Greece on Monday rose to 10 on Friday while four people were still missing, according to Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias.

Ten people have died so far because of the storm 'Daniel' in central Greece, Climate Crisis and Civil Protection Minister Vassilis Kikilias said on Friday, while another four are still missing in Volos and Mt. Pilio.
