Assailants sprayed bullets toward a row of civilian homes in a remote village in Indian-controlled Kashmir, leaving at least four civilians dead and five others injured, police said Monday.

Government spokesman Stelios Petsas has condemned a Friday attack on the political office of Health Minister Vassilis Kikilias by four self-professed members of the Rouvikonas (Greek for Rubicon) anti-establishment group.

A 21-year-old Bulgarian was sentenced to 40 months in prison in the Czech Republic because he threatened Pakistan with terrorist attacks if they did not release a Czech girl arrested for possession of drugs, AFP reported. Local agencies are also reported on the case.

In 2017, 68 innocent victims lost their lives as a result of terrorist attacks in the European Union (EU) - reason enough for Europol not to reduce its efforts in combatting terrorism in all its forms. Even though the number of casualties decreased last year, the number of attacks on European soil did not. The number of jihadist-inspired attacks more than doubled.

Crowds rushed to the site in solidarity after a deadly double bomb attack hit central Istanbul outside Beşiktaş's Vodafone Arena Stadium late on Dec. 10. 

People shouted slogans and placed carnations at the scene, where 38 people, of whom 30 were police officers and seven were civilians, lost their lives. At least 155 people were wounded in the attack. 

A 24 year-old Franco-Algerian, accused of planning a terrorist attack against “one or two churches” was arrested in Paris on Sunday, according to the French Interior Minister, who underlined that terrorism is still a threat.

The Islamic State in Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) militant group praised the gunmen behind this week's killings at the Paris headquarters of the Charlie Hebdo weekly newspaper as "heroic jihadists", a monitoring group said on Jan. 9.

Bosnia: Arrests of suspected Muslim extremists

SARAJEVO -- Bosnia's State Investigation and Protection Agency early on Wednesday arrested 17 people suspected of having links with the Wahhabi movement.

The operation, codenamed "Damascus," was conducted in 15 cities in Bosnia-Herzegovina, it was announced.
