Diver dies while inspecting vessel at Lavrio port
A 45-year-old diver lost his life while performing underwater works on a docked vessel at the port of Lavrio, east of Athens, Wednesday.
Initial reports indicate that the diver became trapped in sea chests, which are portholes designed to draw in seawater for cooling the ship's engines and generators.

Two arrested in Lavrio over migrant trafficking
Authorities arrested the skipper and owner of a Polish-flagged sailing vessel at a private marina in the port of Lavrio on the eastern coast of Attica on charges of facilitating the illegal entry of five foreign nationals into Greece from Cesme on the Turkish coast.

Fate of the old mines on Serifos back in the spotlight
The move by the new owner of large areas of the old mines on the Aegean island of Serifos to put up signs defining its borders has caused a local uproar.
The dispute started two months ago when signs were placed at various points on the island bearing the words Property Seriphos Mines and the name of the French-owned company Societe des Mines de Seriphos et de Spiliazeza au Laurium.

Thermal cameras that can detect students' fever have been installed in kindergartens and primary schools at the Lavreotiki municipality, the local authority said on Friday.
