Hometown passion for this year's soccer champions from Naples has betrayed the hideout of a longtime crime fugitive from Italy, who was captured while riding a motor scooter on a Greek island, Italian police said Saturday.

Turkish and Italian interior ministries have signed a memorandum of understanding on the temporary assignments of police experts of the two countries in the fight against human smuggling and illegal immigration.

The Italian police announced on Wednesday, that in collaboration with Europol, it had arrested a 19-year-old Italian Kosovar woman, Bleona Tafallari, as part of a counter-terrorism operation which took place in Milan.

Italian police and the Carabinieri on Wednesday night arrested suspected Islamist militants from Kosovo - with valid residence permits in Italy - following 12 raids - 10 of which were in Venice's historic centre, one in Mestre, the mainland suburb of Venice, and one in Treviso.

Three adults and a girl have been detained in the centre of Venice as suspects in an alleged jihadist cell.
Police had been monitoring the group from Kosovo for months amid concerns they were planning to join Islamist militants in Syria, reports said.

Interior minister Minniti says he has thanked the officer who was shot, Christian Movio, on behalf of the entire ministry and entire Italian police force.

He says Italy should be “very proud” of its security.
