Gov't deficit at 2.89% of GDP seven months into national budget implementation
The implementation of Romania's aggregate national budget in the first seven months of 2021 ended with a government deficit of 33.97 billion lei (2.89% of GDP), down from 49.68 billion lei (4.71% of GDP) seven months into 2020, the Finance Ministry announced on Thursday.

Antibiotice's business turnover advances 11pct in H1 2021
The Iasi-based Antibiotice pharmaceuticals company has reported an H1 2021 business turnover of 163.39 million lei, up 11% from 2020, according to a company's press statement released on Monday. From its H1 2021 revenues, the company paid the public healthcare system 13.5 million lei in the clawback tax, which influenced the profitability rate.
Government debt accounts for 49.7 pct of GDP January through May 2021
Public debt (government debt) rose at the end of the first five months of 2021 to about 527.5 billion lei, compared to 526.7 billion lei, after the first four months, according to data centralized by the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP). Relative to GDP, government debt fell to 49.7 pct of GDP at the end of May, from 49.9 pct of GDP at the end of April.
Investments worth 1.563 billion lei in electricity networks last year
Electricity distribution and transmission operators invested a total of 1.563 billion lei last year, compared to a forecasted value of 1.572 billion lei, which means an achievement of over 99 percent, according to a press release of the Romanian Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE), sent to AGERPRES on Monday.
Parliament to consider national, social security budgets at joint plenary sitting
At joint plenary sitting today, Parliament is scheduled to consider the draft versions of the 2021 national and social security budgets, with a vote expected on Tuesday. Nuclearelectrica posts 27.8 pct higher profit in 2020
Energy producer Nuclearelectrica, the operator of the Cernavoda nuclear power plant, closed last year with a net profit of 684.7 million lei, by 27.8 percent higher compared to 2019, according to a company statement issued on Thursday. The company's energy output was 10,558 GWh, up 2 percent from the year before.

Moldova's Courts of Accounts has blocked the accounts of the state railway company due to its salary arrears and mounting debts.
The audit report says that between 2018 and 2019, Calea Ferată din Moldova (Moldovan Railways) CFM, sold over 66,000 tons of ferrous material without the Board of Directors' agreement.
