Athens on standby for possible moves by Turkey

New Turkish overflights over Eastern Aegean
Five overflights over Greek airspace by Turkish military aircraft occurred in the space of 16 minutes Sunday morning, according to the National Defense General Staff.
The planes flew over the Eastern Aegean islands of Chios, Lesvos and two smaller islands between 10:14 and 10:30 am local.

Turkey’s failed bid to break Libya embargo sparks tension
There was no letup in the tension in the Aegean Sea Thursday as Turkish fighter jets conducted overflights above the islands of Chios, Oinousses, Panagia and Lesvos.
Similarly, on Wednesday, Turkish jets flew over Lesvos and the Evros land border.

Another 604 migrants bound for deportation to be transferred to the mainland
The government on Friday began transferring a total of 604 migrants from the islands of Samos, Chios and Lesvos to closed facilities on the Greek mainland.
The transfer concerns people that entered Greece iafter March 1, 2020, when the government decided to suspend the asylum procedure for all new arrivals amid an influx of arrivals from the coast of Turkey.
