Coordination of Social Security Systems: Council Agrees General Approach
On 21 June 2018, the Council agreed its negotiating position (general approach) on the coordination of social security systems (revision of regulations 883/2004 and 987/2009). On the basis of this mandate, the Council Presidency will start negotiations with the European Parliament once the latter has adopted its position.

Self-employed will be able to keep working while getting a pension
A Labor Ministry draft law is set to give self-employed professionals the option of continuing to run their businesses after having submitted the documents for their retirement.

Official statistics: Net average monthly wage inches up to 2,487 lei this February
The net average monthly wage was 2,487 lei this February, 0.1 percent or 3 lei higher compared to the previous month, the National Institute for Statistics (INS) said on Wednesday.
The gross nominal average wage was 4,128 lei.
Seniors queue to apply for wrongly withheld pension payments
Thousands of retirees, upon the recommendation of their lawyers and some media, have been queuing up at branches of the Single Social Security Entity (EFKA) and the auxiliary social security fund (ETEAEP), as well as the State General Accounting Office, to apply for the payment of cash amounts that have been wrongly withheld from their pensions.
Greeks' access to healthcare to get harder
The number of days of declared labor required for the provision of social security (i.e. healthcare services) to salary workers by the Single Social Security Entity (EFKA) will be raised from 50 to 75 per year from 2019, according to an amendment tabled by the Labor Ministry in Parliament on Wednesday.
