Lawyers extend strike action to January 19

The lawyers' abstention has been extended until January 19 after a decision of the plenary session of the country's bar associations with a vote of 46-12, with the minority voting in favor of a complete abstention from all proceedings. 

Accordingly, lawyers will refrain from criminal trials, as well as those pertaining to public interest, enforcement of rulings and payment orders.

Salaries in Britain's financial sector have surged in recent months, widening inequality amid the nation's cost-of-living crisis, a study showed yesterday.

The president of Greece's National Commission for Human Rights (GNCHR), Yorgos Stavropoulos, has submitted a bombshell resignation letter in which he lambastes the government for downgrading the Commission's role and also packing it with five representatives of the LGBTQ community and two members of Roma community in violation of its rules.
