Athens metro to halt at 11 p.m. on Friday
The Athens metro will not be in service from 11 p.m. until the end of the shift on Friday.
The union representing metro train drivers said in an announcement that it is moving ahead with the work stoppage because it had received no response from the government after last Monday's industrial action.

Several ISAP stations yet to activate ticket barriers
Despite an early June deadline, several stations on Line 1 of the Athens metro - also known as the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway or ISAP - have yet to activate newly installed ticket barriers.
With all stations on lines 2 and 3 having already activated the barriers - after long delays - ISAP stations and several on the suburban rail network are lagging behind.
Early commuters to be inconvenienced Monday
Early morning commuters will be inconvenienced on Monday as Athens metro staff are to walk off the job until 9 a.m., the morning rush hour.
The walkout is to affect metro lines 2 and 3, but not Line 1, also known as the Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway.

Vandals smash ticket machines at Irini station
Fifteen hooded individuals smashed the ticket gates at the electric railway station (ISAP) in Irini on Tuesday night, using crowbars and bats.
After causing damages inside the station, the group fled. Police is searching for the suspects.

Metro workers' strike to affect lines 2 and 3 on Monday
There will be no services on the Athens metro on Monday, May 14, as workers walk off the job to protest understaffing and a lack of spare parts and equipment.
Metro lines 2 and 3 and will be affected by the action.
The Piraeus-Kifissia electric railway (ISAP), which is also known as Metro Line 1, will operate as normal.
Transport Strike Blocks Greece
A transport strike blocks Greece today. On the festive day, workers in Athens' public transport will protest, the Foreign Ministry said.
Trolleys will not run for 24 hours.
The Metro in the section of "Dukisas Plakentias" boulevard to Eleftherios Venizelos Airport will also not run, while Line 1 of the metro in the Greek capital will not work from 05:00 to 08:00.

May Day rallies to close off center, disrupt public transport
Much of central Athens is to be closed to traffic on Tuesday as labor unions stage traditional May Day demonstrations while public transport will run a restricted service.
Less than half of all metro barriers have been activated
Electronic barriers are operating at less than half of all Athens metro stations several months after the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) had aimed to have its e-ticket system fully operational throughout the network to combat extensive fare dodging.
Car falls off bridge onto rail tracks
A car fell off a bridge and onto the rail tracks near the KAT electric railway station (ISAP) in northern Athens early Friday morning.
The driver, a woman, was helped out of the car by a train driver. It was not clear if she was injured.
The incident caused disruptions for commuters as train routes through the station were temporarily suspended.

Vandals destroy ticket barriers at ISAP station
Police are seeking to identify the vandals that went on a spree on Saturday morning, destroying electronic ticket machines at the electric railway station (ISAP) in Perissos, northern Athens.
According to authorities, the vandals entered the station at around 4 a.m. and smashed the machines before fleeing.
