The yen hit a 16-month high against the United States dollar on March 23, while the Turkish Lira skidded to a record low as rising global trade tensions triggered a bout of investor jitters.

The metropolitan municipality of the Turkish capital Ankara has decided to cut the parking fees to 1 lira for 24 hours. 

The Turkish Lira continued to decline against both the U.S. dollar and the euro on March 13 amid a series of negative developments. 

The Moscow Stock Exchange has announced that it has begun trading in the Turkish Lira.

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has said it is boosting Turkey’s leading honey company, Altıparmak, with a 20 million Turkish Lira loan (4.4 million euro equivalent) to support the company’s advancement in the value chain.

The Turkish Lira slid against the U.S. dollar on Nov. 8 amid a number of concerns which put pressures on the Turkish currency, including ongoing strains in Turkish-U.S. ties.

For the first time since the July 15, 2016, failed coup, I spent a full nine-day cut off from what's been going on in Turkey. This was not the first time. Together with a group of very close friends, who have become closer than family members to us, we were on a cruise tour in western Mediterranean.

The Turkish currency continued its recovery against the U.S. dollar on Sept. 11, after the country's official statistics authority announced soaring economic growth.      

The dollar/lira exchange rate dropped to 3.3986 at around 11 a.m. local time (08:00GMT), down from 3.4080 at Friday's close, ahead of emerging market peers.

Romania's oldest online travel agency Paravion.ro will undergo restructuring and shut its Turkish unit Bavul due to security issues in Turkey and currency depreciation, it said on Aug. 7.

Paravion took over online tourism platform Bavul, which has about 300,000 users, from Turkish mobile operator Turkcell in 2015.

The euro rose to 4.1890 against the Turkish Lira early on Aug. 2, after a 0.6 percent increase compared to previous trading, hitting an all-time high against the lira. 

The index later regressed to 4.1730 by noon.
