The presence of the pathogenic microorganism Listeria monocytogenes has been detected in a product of the company "G.PANAGIOTOPOULOS I. BAKATSIAS FISH FARMING'

The Bulgarian Food Safety Agency (BFSA) withdrew 251 kg and 613 g of smoked fish from the market, which contained Listeria monocytogenes.

The fish is smoked mackerel in a vacuum package manufactured by Ocean Fish - Romania, batch No L 12.11.2019, the Agency said.

The product has been distributed commercially throughout the country.

The outbreak of the listeriosis epidemic in Spain is already an international threat. The country's health ministry has brought the matter to the attention of the European authorities and the World Health Organization (WHO), the Spanish newspaper El Pais reports.
