Hindi-language book wins International Booker prize
Indian author Geetanjali Shree and US translator Daisy Rockwell have won the International Booker Prize for Hindi novel "Tomb of Sand," a first for a book in an Indian language.
The prestigious £50,000 ($63,000, 59,000-euro) prize is awarded to fiction from around the world that has been translated into English and is shared between the author and translator.
Bulgarian Author is Nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature
Bulgarian Writer and poet Georgi Gospodinov has been nominated for the Nobel Prize in Literature.
The proposal was signed by chairwoman Zdravka Evtimova. Bulgaria's candidacy was sent a few months ago but so far there has been no response from the Swedish Nobel Committee.
‘Cabaret,’ ‘Life of Pi’ win big at Olivier Awards

Ice sculptors to welcome visitors in Turkey’s east
The countdown has begun for a snow-themed festival to be held for the second time this year in Turkey's eastern province of Ağrı.

Alenka Sottler illustrates new English translation of Bambi
Ljubljana – Acclaimed Slovenian illustrator Alenka Sottler has contributed drawings for a new English translation of Bambi, a classic written in 1923 by Austrian Jewish writer Felix Salten. The Original Bambi: The Story of a Life in the Forest brings a new perspective on what is believed to be a much darker story than many saw in Walt Disney’s film.
Gothic novelist Anne Rice dead at 80
Anne Rice, the gothic novelist best known for writing "Interview with the Vampire," died on Dec. 11 aged 80, her family said.
"In her final hours, I sat beside her hospital bed in awe of her accomplishments and her courage," her son Christopher Rice said in a post on her Facebook page.
He said she died of complications from a stroke.
