Traffic steadily picking up at Ljubljana Airport
Brnik – The Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport has seen traffic tick up at the start of the summer tourism season. Scheduled flights to eleven destinations and charter flights to twenty destinations are currently available, with 2,000-2,500 passengers passing through the airport daily.

Brussels Airlines returns to Ljubljana airport
Brnik – Air carriers keep returning to Ljubljana airport as, after more than a one-year break due to the Covid-19 pandemic, a Brussels Airlines aircraft touched down at Brnik again on Monday. The flag carrier of Belgium currently operates three flights a week to and from Ljubljana, and the number of flights is expected to increase.

Covid-19 pandemic causes significant fall in bus transport
Ljubljana – Due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the number of bus passengers in Slovenia more than halved last year compared to 2019. City buses recorded a 57% decrease, there has been a 53% fall in inter-city bus travel, and a 69% decline in international bus transit, data from the Slovenian Statistical Office (SURS) shows.
Ljubljana Airport gets new passenger terminal
Brnik – A new passenger terminal was inaugurated at the Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport on Wednesday. The expansion brings 10,000 square metres of new surfaces, including more space for security checks and baggage handling, and more check-in points. Once opened for business on 1 July, the airport will be able to handle more than 1,200 passengers per hour.

Two carriers to fly between Ljubljana and Brussels during presidency
Ljubljana – Ljubljana will be connected to Brussels with regular flights during Slovenia’s presidency of the Council of the EU in the second half of the year. The routes will be operated by carriers Brussels Airlines and Wizzair, Slovenia’s permanent representation in Brussels has said.
Pandemic slashes Q1 passenger numbers at Ljubljana airport

Brnik/Ljubljana – Some 180 passengers are due to fry to Tenerife from Slovenia’s main international airporton Sunday, as the first charter flight this year is to be operated from Ljubljana airport by Croatian air carrier Trade Air. Slovenian tour operators say that despite the coronavirus pandemic, interest in tourist travel is increasing.
Brussels approves EUR 5m in state aid for Fraport Slovenija
Brussels – The European Commission has approved EUR 5 million in state aid for Fraport Slovenija. The company operating Ljubljana airport will receive the money to compensate the damage it suffered between 17 March and 30 June 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic, the Commission said on Tuesday.
EasyJet terminates Ljubljana-Berlin route
Ljubljana – Budget carrier EasyJet has decided to end its Ljubljana-Berlin service, the second route it has terminated out of the Slovenian capital after it shut its base in London Stansted, the aviation portal Ex-Yu Aviation reported.

Ljubljana airport operator hoping for revival in spring
Brnik – Although regular passenger transport at Ljubljana airport has been slashed because of the epidemiological situation, Fraport Slovenija director Zmago Skobir remains optimistic. He is confident the airport will come to life again in the spring.
