A locomotive of a passenger train caught fire at Tulovo station. The incident was reported at 8:30 a.m. There were no injuries.

"Bulgarian Railways (BDZ) is in a dire state.

A fire has broken out in a locomotive along the Belovo - Kostenets railway line, said the press office of Fire Safety and Protection of Population Directorate-General. One locomotive was destroyed by the fire, 27 carriages and another two locomotives were saved. The cause of the accident has not been established yet. No casualties have been reported.

The locomotive of the Yambol-Burgas passenger train caught on fire, BNR announced.

The incident happened near Lukoil Neftochim. There are no injured people.

The passenger train stayed in the section between Druzhba and Dolno Ezerovo stations.

150 people travelled on the train, BDZ reports.

A 100-ton steam locomotive from the Third Reich will be restored in Bulgaria. It will arrive by ship on the Danube because it is too heavy to transport on land. The repair, worth about half a million euros, will be carried out in a railway repair workshop in Sofia, reports Darik. 
 

The fast train № 2601 from Sofia to Varna came out of the rails after Rebrovo station with the first cart of the locomotive of the composition. There is a temporary interruption of train movements in the section between Rebrovo and Svoge stations. About 100 people traveled on the train. The train has moved at a low speed and there are no injured passengers, reports Segabg.

Bulgarian railways company BDZ posted a loss of BGN 51 M (EUR 25.5M) last year, Executive Director Vladimir Vladimirov said on Wednesday, highlighting an urgent need to overhaul the state-owned firm.

There will be no chance for improvement if reforms are not implemented, Vladimirov told Nova TV.
