Thousands to run from Asia to Europe in Istanbul Marathon
Thousands of people will meet in Turkey's biggest city on Nov. 13 to run the Istanbul Marathon, the world's only road race where people can cross from Asia to Europe.
Grueling Spartathlon race starts this Friday
Spartathlon 2016, this unique annual ultra-marathon race of 246 kilometers from Athens to Sparta draped in history, is starting on Friday morning with the winner set to cross the finish line early on Saturday.

The Marathon organized in Tokyo is one of six World Marathon Majors, but it is the only one in the world that the runners are dressed in eccentric costumes.
More than 1.7 million roadside spectators had the chance to see ballerinas, princesses, superheroes, and cartoon characters running in Tokyo Marathon on Sunday February 28.

Christoforos Merousis wins gold at Athens Marathon: results
Marathon runner Christoforos Merousis won the 33rd Athens Authentic Marathon on Sunday for the third consecutive year. He managed to come first in the men’s race with a time of 2:21.22. The gold in the women’s race went to Minori Hayakari from Japan, who came first with 2:52.06.
First two women soldiers pass elite US Army Ranger course
Two women have made military history after becoming the first female soldiers to pass the U.S. Army's grueling Ranger Course, the Army said on August 17.
The two, along with 94 men, passed the 62-day leadership course, which teaches students "how to overcome fatigue, hunger, and stress to lead Soldiers during small unit combat operations," it said in a statement.
US grandma, 92, sets record for oldest woman marathoner
A 92-year-old US grandmother has become the oldest woman to finish a marathon, when she crossed the finish line of a San Diego 26-miler on May 31, race organizers said.
Half Marathon Expo kicks off on April 30
The exhibition Half Marathon Expo – a unique sports and shopping festival where participants and guests have to opportunity to learn and learn about products and services around sports – kicks off at the Zappeion Hall in downtown Athens on April 30 and runs through to May 3.

Marathon Flame arrives in Belgrade
BELGRADE - The Marathon Flame, a symbol of peace, fair play and tolerance arrived in Belgrade from Athens Wednesday, and will burn at the 28th Belgrade Marathon's start and finish lines on Saturday, April 18.
