Turkish industrialists will no longer have to contribute funds to the state-run broadcaster TRT, according to a top official.

Greece's OPAP, Europe's fourth-biggest betting firm, will conclude the roll-out of a new business of video lottery terminals (VLTs) next year, it said on Thursday.

Betgenius will also become OPAP's primary provider of in-play data, delivering fully automated, real-time data for around 130,000 sports events annually for the next two years.

Kathimerini understands that the Finance Ministry's planned lotteries - intended as an incentive to encourage consumers to use credit and debit cards for their everyday transactions - will include a new car for one lucky shopper each month.

There will be thousands of other prizes up to 50 euros each, most of which will comprise free credit.

Turkey has abandoned a move to seek bids for the privatization of its national lottery in March and will continue to work on the process for it and the country's horse races, Finance Minister Naci Ağbal told private broadcaster NTV on Jan. 9. 

OPAP will revive plans to launch a video lottery terminals (VLTs) business, Europe's third largest betting firm said on Wednesday, after Greece's gaming commission approved new rules.

OPAP had planned to launch video lottery machines last year but halted the project after Greece introduced tougher betting rules.

A Turkish entrepreneur has established an official betting system particularly for camel and horse races and sporting competitions in Ghana, with his company reaching 100,000 people on a monthly basis and creating 2,000 jobs. 

Turkey will formally advertise a tender to privatize its national lottery on May 6 and plans to take an initial bid for the tender on Aug. 5, said the finance minister on May 4. 

The licenses for the National Lottery Directorate, dubbed Milli Piyango in Turkish, will last for 10 years, Finance Minister Naci A?bal said at a press conference in Ankara.        

The Finance Ministry has decided to abolish the levy of 5 cents per entry in games of chance organized by Greek betting firm OPAP.

Instead of the controversial levy, the new tax bill provides for an increase in the tax on gaming company net revenues from 30 to 35 percent.
