Lufthansa Strike Affects Sofia Flights

German Company Lufthansa has cancelled 890 flights on Wednesday, including some long - haul flights. As a result, Sofia Airport confirmed that several flights of the company to and from Sofia were also cancelled.

The reason for the strike which started last week is the long - term disagreement between the management and the pilots on the amount of the pilots's remeuneration.

Lufthansa pilots plan new strikes over this week

Pilots at German flag carrier Lufthansa will resume their strike on Nov. 29-30, their union said, as talks over a dispute concerning wages ended without a resolution.

Pilots' union Cockpit said it was calling on members flying short-haul flights to stay away from work on Nov. 29, and those flying both short and long-haul destinations to stage a walkout on Nov. 30.

Lufthansa Pilots Go On Strike Again

Lufthansa pilots are going on strike again for another 48 hours as of Tuesday.

The news was announced by their syndicate after they rejected the proposal of the management for a moderate increase of remuneration and a two-month bonus.

The Cockpit syndicate insist on a nearly 4% annual increase of wages which, however, has to be backdated 5 years.

German Lufthansa Pilots Strike Becomes Indefinite

The strike of Lufthansa pilots has become indefinite, announced the spokesperson of the pilot syndicate, reported dir.bg.

There is no deadline for the end of the strike, stated Jorg Handverg, spokesperson of the Cockpit pilot syndicate. He pointed out that the purpose of the pilots is to receive an offer by the German carrier and then the strike will end.

115,000 passengers hit as Lufthansa strike heads into second day

Pilots at German flagship carrier Lufthansa stayed away from work for a second straight day on Nov. 24, forcing the airline to scrap 912 flights and grounding 115,000 more passengers.

The airline had already scrapped nearly 900 flights that affected 100,000 passengers on Nov. 23 after pilots staged a walkout in a row over pay and working conditions.
