Russia says repelled 'large-scale' Ukraine offensive in Donetsk

Russia said Monday it had repelled "a large-scale offensive" by Ukrainian forces in Moscow-annexed Donetsk, as fighting intensified along their border.

Kiev has for months said it is preparing a major counteroffensive, hoping to reclaim territory lost since Russia launched its military operation in February 2022.

Putin introduced martial law

At a meeting of the Security Council of Russia, Putin said that territorial defense headquarters should be established in the self-proclaimed Lugansk and Donetsk People's Republics, as well as in the Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions, reports RIA Novosti.
Martial law in these four areas will be in effect from tomorrow.
