Russian Missile Strikes Rock Kyiv and Lviv: Poland Scrambles Jets
Early this morning, multiple explosions reverberated through the streets of Kyiv as Ukraine was thrust into a state of high alert following a series of missile strikes launched by Russian strategic bombers. Local authorities reported that Ukraine's air defense systems successfully repelled the attack on the capital, with several Russian drones being intercepted and shot down.
Ukraine debates future of downed Soviet monuments
In Ukraine's westernmost city of Lviv, a statue of the first woman in space, Valentina Tereshkova, sprawls on the ground, red paint splashed around her helmet.
The region bordering the European Union claims it was the first in Ukraine to topple all its Soviet monuments, in a nationwide ouster of symbols glorifying Kremlin rule.

Russian strikes hit Ukrainian cities Kharkiv and Lviv: mayors
Russian strikes Friday morning hit the northeastern Ukrainian city of Kharkiv as well as Lviv in the country's west, the mayors of the two cities said.
"At least six explosions were heard in the city," Kharkiv mayor Igor Terekhov said in a Telegram post, while his Lviv counterpart Andriy Sadovyi reported "information about 2 strikes in Lviv".

Russian missile attack on Lviv, Ukraine, kills 4 people and wounds more
The death toll from a Russian missile attack in the western Ukrainian city of Lviv climbed to four, Interior Minister Ihor Klymenko reported Thursday. Another nine were injured.
Mayor Andriy Sadovyi said around 60 apartments and 50 cars in the area of strike were damaged.
Emergency service workers were searching in the debris for more people trapped.
Ukrainian rock band to perform in Istanbul
As part of its "Help for Ukraine" tour, the famous Ukrainian rock band Okean Elzy will take the stage at Maximum UNIQ Open Air in Istanbul on June 11, with revenues from the concert to be used for helping children affected by the war, health institutions and the defenders of Ukraine.

Poland sends Leopard 2 Tanks to Ukraine
Poland has decided to send German Leopard 2 tanks to Ukraine.
This was announced by the Polish President Andrzej Duda during a meeting of the Lublin Triangle in Lviv, in which representatives of Poland, Lithuania and Ukraine take part, quoted by the Polish media RP.

Leaders of Türkiye, Ukraine and UN to meet in Lviv
U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Guterres and Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan have accepted an invition from Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy to meet on Aug. 18 to review the deal allowing Ukrainian grain to be shipped to world markets to help alleviate the global grain crisis and discuss ways to end the six-month-old war.

Hollywood actress and U.N. humanitarian Angelina Jolie made a surprise visit to the western Ukrainian city of Lviv on April 30, the Lviv regional governor said on Telegram.
