North Macedonia's Prime Minister Zoran Zaev said he is ready to beg for a solution in Sofia, but is not prepared to sacrifice the Macedonian identity and language, adding that if the dialogue with Bulgaria is successful, talks may be held as early as 23 June.

Russia Tries to Thwart Sofia – Skopje Rapprochement

Macedonian FM Bujar Osmani thanked for their support and called for EU accession talks to start as soon as possible.

Bulgaria’s Caretaker Govt to Maintain North Macedonia Blockade

Bulgaria's caretaker government led by Stefan Janev will not change Sofia's stance on blocking the start of EU negotiation for North Macedonia in a dispute over history, language and identity.

The news further diminishes the chances of a speedy breakthrough in bilateral talks before June, when the EU has pencilled in the official start of talks.

German Ambassador to Skopje Takes Stand on Bulgaria and North Macedonia Dispute

There are good neighborly relations between North Macedonia and Bulgaria. Bulgaria was the first to recognize North Macedonia as an independent state and is a strong supporter of the Europeanization of the whole region, especially as regards the process of rapprochement of North Macedonia with the EU.
