Greek PM lands in Thasos to inspect fire (aerial video of burnt lands+photos)
Greek PM Alexis Tspiras has arrived on the island of Thasos to inspect the situation and see the catastrophic effects of the wildfire that has ravages forests and farmlands for the past past 3 days. Tsipras arrived a little before 11 am on Monday morning in a military Chinook helicopter.
PM visits fire-hit island of Thasos
Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras was to visit the northern Aegean island of Thasos on Monday as helicopters resumed their efforts to put out a large fire that burned large tracts of lands and several homes over the weekend.
Schools on the island remained closed as a precaution but also due to the toxic fumes released by the fire.

Emergency Declared on Greece's Thassos Island over Wildfire
A state of emergency has been declared on the island of Thassos in Greece over a wildfire raging since Saturday, the Bulgarian National Radio reports.
Hundreds of firefighters have been battling the flames since Saturday. No-one has been hurt.
Helicopters have also joined the effort to put out the flames, Focus News Agency says citing Greek website Protothema.
Hungarian Police To Patrol Serbian-Bulgarian Border
A Hungarian police unit with full technical equipment will patrol the Serbian-Bulgarian border, announced Serbian Interior Minister, Nebojsa Stefanovic.
The Minister added that the authorities in Belgrade have already asked the Austrian and French police for assistance. According to him, additional foreign forces will contribute to "the stability and security of state frontiers".
More refugees, migrants arrive on Greek islands
Over one hundred refugees and migrants have entered Greece by sea over the past 24 hours, the Athens-Macedonian news agency said on Thursday. According to the agency, 106 people reached islands in the northern Aegean.
The number of identified migrants and refugees in Greece on Thursday stood at 59,694 people, the agency added.

Bachvarova: Bulgaria Does Not Need Fences along Bulgarian-Greek Border

"I have talked with my Serbian counterpart and he has assured me that the flow of migrants from Bulgaria is not as heavy as reported a few months ago," added Bachvarova.
