Greece’s death toll from coronavirus rises to 120 after 101-year-old patient dies
The death of a 101-year-old woman at Sotiria Hospital in Athens took Greece's coronavirus toll to 120 on Tuesday afternoon.
The woman, who had been suffering from underlying health issues when she was hospitalized with Covid-19, the disease caused by the novel coronavirus, had been admitted to hospital from a nursing home in Nea Makri east of the capital.

Tests conducted in several retirement homes after infections
Greek health teams conducted numerous tests in several retirement homes around the region of Attica in the past 48 hours after at least 12 residents in a home in Nea Makri, east Attica, tested positive for coronavirus, Deputy Minister of Civil Protection Nikos Hardalias said on Monday's regular briefing.
The infected residents were transferred to Athens' Sotiris Hospital.
Covid-19 tests to be carried out at all Attica retirement homes after outbreak
Greek Health Ministry representative Sotiris Tsiodras and National Health Organization (EODY) president Panagiotis Arkoumaneas on Monday visited a retirement home in Nea Makri, east of Athens, which was quarantined the night before after several residents tested positive for the coronavirus.

A retirement home in Nea Makri, east of Athens, was put under quarantine late on Sunday after residents tested positive for the coronavirus.
In comments to Skai television on Monday, Deputy Health Minister Vassilis Kotzamanis said that at least 12 people at the home had tested positive for Covid-19.

Moderate quake strikes sea area northeast of Athens
A moderate earthquake measuring 3.8 on the Richter scale struck off the northeastern coast of Attica on Wednesday morning.
The epicenter of the 11.13 a.m. tremor was located 8 kilometers east of the seaside town of Nea Makri and at a depth of 5 kilometers.

Police in Attica are probing the shooting of a 53-year-old businessman in Nea Makri on Saturday night.
According to investigators, a gunman opened fire on the 53-year-old during a drive-by shooting outside the victim's business on Poseidonos Avenue.

Gale-force winds keep ferries docked
Weather problems persist in central and southern Greece on Friday, as the strong winds are keeping ferries docked and snowfall has blocked a number of roads in various regions.
No ferries sail out of the Attica ports of Piraeus, Rafina and Lavrio due to gale-force winds, except for the large ferries to Aigina and Poros islands in the Saronikos Gulf.
