Eurostat: Slovenia saw the biggest rise in domestic tourism in 2020

Luxembourg – In 2020 when tourism was hit by the coronavirus pandemic, Slovenia posted the highest rise in the number of nights generated by domestic tourists in the EU, that of 33%. The other two countries that also saw a rise in domestic nights last year were Malta and Cyprus (both up 15%), show figures Eurostat released on Monday.

Man Admits Murdering the Maltese Journalist Caruana Galizia in Court

One of three men accused of murdering Maltese investigative journalist Daphne Caruana Galizia in 2017, changed his plea to guilty in a Valletta courtroom today.

Vince Muscat told the court that he was admitting to all charges, in a shock development that could prove crucial in the high-profile murder case.

Malta Maritime Summit postponed

Organizers of the Malta Maritime Summit 2020 on Tuesday announced the postponement of the week-long event in Valletta to a later date that will be announced in due course.
The Malta summit is an event held every two years which hosts a high number of Greek participants and visitors.

Greek FM in Malta for talks

Greek Foreign Minister Nikos Dendias is visiting Malta on Wednesday for talks with the country's President George Vella as well as with European and Foreign Affairs Minister Evarist Bartolo.
Talks were to focus on issues of bilateral interest, including migration and ongoing regional developments, the Greek foreign ministry said.
