The pilot of the MIG 21 LanceR aircraft that crashed on Tuesday in Mures County is in a stable condition, being conscious and cooperative, according to the Defence Ministry (MApN). According to a MApN statement, the plane belonged to the 71st Cimpia Turzii Air Base and was used in a training flight. The aircraft crashed around 14:30hrs near Dedrad, Mures County, in an uninhabited area.

A C-27 J Spartan aircraft of the Romanian Air Force is carrying out on Monday an international humanitarian assistance mission in support of the Republic of Moldova, in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic, for the transport of 1.5 tonnes of sanitary protection equipment, a Ministry of National Defence (MApN) release sent to AGERPRES informs.

The charge d'affaires of the United States Embassy in Bucharest, David Muniz, and the commander of the 31st Aviano Squadron, Brigadier General Jason E. Bailey, are expected today at the 71st General Emanoil Ionescu Air Base at Campia Turzii, Cluj County.
