Kenyan athletes claim victory in Istanbul Half Marathon

Kenyan runners Ruth Chepngetich and Kibiwott Kandie clinched the 16th edition of the Istanbul Half Marathon, an annual road running event that hosted thousands of athletes this year.

Chepngetich, 26, clocked 21 km (13 miles) run in 1 hour, 4 minutes and 2 seconds to break the world record in the women's category.

Turkish Airlines becomes sponsor of Serbian marathon

National flag carrier Turkish Airlines on Dec. 24 became the official air carrier of the largest international sports event in Serbia, race organizers announced.

The Belgrade Marathon and Turkish Airlines signed a contract in Serbia's capital Belgrade making it the official air carrier of the 33rd Belgrade Marathon 2020, the statement said.

Kenya's Komen wins Athens Marathon

John Kipkorir Komen of Kenya has won the 37th Athens Marathon.

The 42-year-old clocked 2 hours 16 minutes 34 seconds, beating Rwanda's Felicien Muhitira, 17 years his junior, by 9 seconds.

Greek runner Costas Gelaouzos finished third in 2:19:02.

Greece's Eleftheria Petroulaki won the women's race in 2:39:00, finishing 35th overall.

Representatives from 20 Countries Will Participate in a Charity Marathon to Support Women with Breast Cancer

On September 29, in South Park in Sofia, representatives from 20 countries will run to support women with breast cancer. The cause of the marathon is to unite women in their battle for life with their families, friends and associates.

Now in its eighth year, the Penny Marathon raises awareness and funds for stray and neglected animals through a pet-friendly walk/run. The Stavros Niarchos Foundation Cultural Center (SNFCC) will host the last 10 kilometer-leg of the 42k race, in which participants will run, swim, cycle and paddle. The race was established by two Greek Australians looking to bolster animal rights in Greece.

From today in Plovdiv begins the film marathon under open sky "Summer cinema in the park".

The organizers recommend that visitors take up seats in front of the screen and wear something to sit on.
