Half Marathon Expo kicks off on April 30

The exhibition Half Marathon Expo – a unique sports and shopping festival where participants and guests have to opportunity to learn and learn about products and services around sports – kicks off at the Zappeion Hall in downtown Athens on April 30 and runs through to May 3.

Record turnout 10th Alexander the Great Intl Marathon in Thessaloniki (photos)

The 10th Alexander the Great International Marathon commenced in the northern port city of Thessaloniki on April 5. This year's events had a 40% increase in participation from 2014 with an extra 1,500 spots added by organizers.

More than 20,000 participants gathered in the region for races as well as other parallel events despite the wet weather.

4th Athens Half Marathon to be held on May 3

The Athens Half Marathon, an international event open to all, will be held for the fourth consecutive year on May 3, 2015.

Runners of all ages from Greece and abroad will have the opportunity to participate in an ideal race in the heart of the Greek capital, which is full of significant historical buildings and sites.

Marathon marked for doping crackdown

Athletics global governing body is to launch a doping crackdown on elite marathon runners after scandals involving top Kenyan and Russian stars.
      
Organisers of the top races in London, New York, Boston, Chicago, Tokyo and Berlin have agreed to finance extra testing of top runners by the International Association of Athletics Federations (IAAF).

This year, the Spetses Mini Marathon is due to take place from October 9-11.

Legendary marathon runner Franjo Mihalic passes away

BELGRADE- Renowned Yugoslav marathon runner Franjo Mihalic passed away at the age of 95 in Belgrade on Saturday.

The legendary winner of silver medals at the Olympics in Melbourne dedicated his whole life to sport, especially athletics.

Mihalic broke down 22 records in his career, and his greatest success was the silver medal at the Olympic Games in Melbourne in April 1956.
