Part of Italian military medical team arrives in Slovenia
Kranj – Six Italian military doctors and nurses arrived in Slovenia on Sunday to help the medical teams of the Slovenian Armed Force helping at Covid-19 hospitals. Another nine could not arrive due to the bad weather but will join them on Monday.
Italian army medical teams coming to Slovenian hospitals
Ljubljana – Fifteen Italian military health professionals will come to Slovenia on Sunday to join the medical teams of the Slovenian Armed Forces helping in Covid-19 hospitals. The Italian team will be greeted by Defence Minister Matej Tonin and Health Minister Janez Poklukar in Kranj, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.
NSi offers itself as solution to end bi-partisan antagonism
Ljubljana – New Slovenia (NSi) met for a virtual congress on Saturday in preparation for next year’s general election where their leader Matej Tonin said this Christian democratic party should get the mandate to form a government in order to avoid the “inefficiency” of the centre-left and the “sharpness” of the senior partner in the current ruling coalition.
Italy to help Slovenia tackle Covid with army medical teams
Ljubljana – The Italian Army plans to help Slovenia with up to 30 doctors and nurses as the country battles an increasing number of Covid-19 patients, it was agreed at a meeting between the Slovenian and Italian defence ministers. Slovenian Defence Minister Matej Tonin tweeted this on Wednesday after meeting his Italian counterpart Lorenzo Guerini.

Monument unveiled to Hungarian soldiers killed in WWI
Nova Gorica – A monument to Hungarian soldiers killed in the Battles of the Isonzo was unveiled on Tuesday in a site above Nova Gorica, close to where some of the worst fighting of WWI took place.
PM Janša, Defence Minister Tonin receive threats by mail
Ljubljana – Media have reported that Prime Minister Janez Janša and Defence Minister Matej Tonin on Friday received threats by mail, with live ammunition being enclosed in the letters. The threats sent to the politicians’ home addresses were later confirmed by the prime minister’s office and Tonin himself.
Defence Minister Tonin visits Montenegro
Podgorica – Defence Minister Matej Tonin was on a working visit to Montenegro on Friday to meet his counterpart Olivera Injac in Podgorica and attend the To Be Secure international security forum in Budva, the Defence Ministry said in a press release.

Left opposes as defence committee approves military resolution
Ljubljana – The parliamentary Defence Committee approved the draft resolution on the general long-term programme for the development and equipping of the Slovenian Armed Forces (SAF) until 2035. The resolution is strongly opposed by the Left party, which plans to propose a consultative referendum.
