Protests against private universities bill turn violent
A student protest in Athens against a bill that would allow the establishment of branches of foreign universities in Greece for the first time has turned violent.
Around 8,000 people are estimated to be participating in the city center protest, while police have so far made nine arrests.

Trade unionists urge participation in May Day rallies
The country's largest trade union federation has called for mass participation in May Day rallies on Monday across the country.
The General Confederation of Workers in Greece (GSEE), which represents private-sector workers, said it would assemble at 11 a.m. at Klathmonos Square in central Athens.

Protests in Europe: Tear Gas and Arrested in Paris, Clashes in Zurich
The police used tear gas to disperse protesters on Champs-Élysées. There are also people arrested.
Thousands of cars headed to Paris, following the example of the Canadian Freedom Convoy, to protest against the covid restrictions.
However, blockades of the French capital were not set up, and more than 7,000 police officers were mobilized to maintain order.
Over 350 detained across Turkey on May Day under curfew
A total of 355 demonstrators were detained across Turkey on International Workers' Day, also known as May Day, for marching illegally and violating a full nationwide lockdown imposed by authorities to stem the spread of coronavirus.
