Children’s streptococcal infections rise
Medical experts are expressing concern over indications that there has been an upsurge of streptococcal infections in children. The disease may not be systematically recorded in Greece, but pediatricians estimate that they have seen more cases this year compared to the pre-pandemic period.

Candida auris accounted for 4.4% of hospital infections in 2022
A fungal superbug called Candida auris accounted for just 4.4% of all hospital infections in Greece last year, the head of the National Public Health Organization (EODY), Theoklis Zaoutis, said Saturday.
Covid deaths ease, but ICU patients up from last week
Covid-19 deaths eased to 65 in the period from March 20 to 26 from 75 the week before, according to the weekly bulletin published on Thursday by the National Public Health Organization (EODY).
However, though new intubations eased, the number of Covid patients on a ventilator in intensive care rose to 75 from 71 on a weekly basis.
Two arrested in Thessaloniki for drug dealing

COVID-19 in Bulgaria: 133 New Cases in the Last 24 hours
One hundred and thirty-three new cases of coronavirus were registered in the last 24 hours in Bulgaria. One of the confirmed infected has died, according to data from the Unified Information Portal.
Police bust Athens-Kalamata drug racket
A joint operation between the police's drug unit in Athens and its security division in Kalamata, southern Greece, had led to the dismantling of a drug racket worth at least 350,000 euros, the Hellenic Police (ELAS) said in a press release on Tuesday.

COVID-19 in Bulgaria: Over 250 New Cases in the Last 24 hours
Two hundred and fifty-five cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed in Bulgaria in the last 24 hours, 56.86% of them are among unvaccinated people, according to the data published in the Unified Information Portal. The dead are two, neither of whom was vaccinated.
With this, the total number of victims of the pandemic in Bulgaria reached 38,250.
Greek health authorities announce 75 Covid-related deaths
The National Organization for Public Health (EODY) announced on Thursday that a total of 75 Covid-19 related deaths were recorded between March 13 and March 19, while intubations eased to 71. The rate of new intubations over that period was 36% less than the average in the previous four weeks.
