19 Greek olive oils are rocking it internationally – winning Gold! (see rankings)

Nineteen Greek olive oils ranked amongst the world’s best at this year’s new York International Olive Oi Competition (NYIOOC). Twelve of these were given Gold Award status, marking a record year for Greece and Greek producers at the annual event.

The Unseen Museum presents an ‘unusual marble utensil’

The National Archaeological Museum of Athens will present to the public another item from its extensive storerooms, an unusual marble utensil whose uses are still remain unclear.

The artifact is a marble slab with a miniature model of an ancient olive press that served as cover of a box which was used to collect money, probably linked to the production of olive oil.

Cyrpus is on a drive to secure halloumi cheese’s designated status in the EU against the British government’s decision to support U.K. halloumi producers. London wants to cash in on the name halloumi that it would not be allowed to use if Cyprus producers are successful in getting protected status for their produce.
