This year's excavation works have begun in the ancient site of Myra and the Andriake Port situated in Demre district of Turkey's southern resort province of Antalya.
Six of the most important ancient sites of the Lycian Union lie in this area, where excavations kicked off in 2009.

A hotel in the Kemer district of Turkey's southwestern city of Antalya organized a march for peace, where the hotel guests' children marched with cartoon characters as personified by hotel animators.
As part of the event, children spent time watching shows by illusionists and intelligent dogs and parrots.

2,200 year-old trade building found in Turkey's ancient city
A 2,200-year-old two-story trade building, which was also thought to be used for cold storage, has been found in the Sagalassos ancient city in the A?lasun district of southern Burdur province.
Baby caretta carettas to be protected by hedges in Kemer
The nesting grounds of caretta carettas, or loggerhead turtles, are to be protected by hedges at the hatching zone near the Ç?ral? beach in the resort town of Kemer in Antalya province.
The entry of vehicles was blocked at the 3,500-meter-long beach, while camping at the beach was banned to protect the eggs and hatchlings.
Stone Sculpture Symposium at UNESCO world heritage site
In the Mediterranean resort province of Antalya, the second Stone Sculpture Symposium will be held in the Ka? district, which was recently added to the UNESCO World Heritage List.
At the symposium to be held at the ancient site of Xanthos, nine marble seating areas that fit the historical fabric of the site will also be installed.

A hotel employee has been arrested for allegedly raping a Russian tourist in Turkey?s Mediterranean province of Antalya.
The 22-year-old hotel technician, identified only by the initials Ö.A., was arrested on July 13 on allegations of raping the 21-year-old Russian woman staying in the hotel, located in the Çamyuva neighborhood of Antalya?s Kemer district.

Chinese woman killed by bus in southern Turkey
A Chinese woman has died after being hit by a bus in the Mediterranean province of Antalya.
Jring Wang, a Chinese tourist in Antalya, died after she was hit by a public bus around 1:00 p.m. on July 12 while crossing a street called Akdeniz Avenue.
