Excavation head calls Myra ‘Pompeii’ of Anatolia
The 13th season excavations have started in Myra-Andriake, one of the six most important cities of the Lycian League located in the Demre district of the southern province of Antalya.

Professor Nevzat Çevik, the head of the excavations, stated that the Myra-Andriake excavations would continue all year round with the decision of the Culture and Tourism Ministry.

Massive forest fire engulfs Mediterranean district
A massive fire erupted in two different locations in the southern province of Antalya's Manavgat district has destroyed dozens of hectares of forest cover and caused the evacuation of five settlements.

The cause of the fires in the Yeniköy and Side neighborhoods of the district is still unknown.

Antalya welcomes over 3 million tourists
Antalya, one Turkey's major holiday destinations on the Mediterranean coast, has welcomed more than 3 million tourists since the start of 2021.
Nearly half of the holidaymakers visited the city in July alone, according to a statement the Antalya Governor's Office issued.

Forest fire in Marmaris brought under control
A forest fire that broke out in Turkey's southwestern Muğla province on June 27 has been brought under control, said a local official.
"The fire is now under control. Teams continue cooling work from air and land in the region," Orhan Tavlı, the Muğla governor, told Anadolu Agency.

Russian tourists return to Turkish resort after flights resume
The first group of Russian tourists arrived in Turkey's southern province of Antalya, as Moscow resumed full-scale air traffic with Turkey on June 22.
On April 15, Russia had temporarily suspended regular and charter flights with Turkey due to COVID-19 concerns. After a two-month break, Russian tourists started to come to Turkey again.
Turkish hoteliers expect influx of Russian tourists
With the resumption of full-scale air traffic between Turkey and Russia, tourism professionals now expect around 1 million Russian tourists to flock to Turkish resorts starting from July.
