Tensions in Coalition Gov't after Bulgaria Justice Min's Resignation

The two main partners in Bulgaria´s minority government will not agree on a single nomination to take over as Justice Minister, as Hristo Ivanov resigned after Parliament voted to approve a reform package for the judiciary system.

Tsveta Karayancheva, an MP from the main ruling GERB party, told reporters on Thursday her party would put forward its own candidate.

Bulgarian Deputy PM: Schengen Area Has to be Consolidated

According to Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva, at present the Schengen Area was in such a state that there were two possible outcomes.

In her words, the borderless area could be either consolidated or else it would disappear, she said in an interview for private bTV station on Tuesday.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva expressed no doubt that the recent death of an Afghan migrant near the country's border with Turkey had occurred by accident.

Last week, an Afghan migrant was killed near the town of Sredets after being hit from a ricocheted bullet, which had been fired as a warning shot by a border police officer.

Bulgaria Cannot Be Forced into Building Migrant Hotspot - Deputy PM

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister Meglena Kuneva has said no member state could be imposed to set up a migrant hotspot.

Kuneva has told the Bulgarian National Television's Friday weekly program Panorama that hotspots are "an opportunity to show solidarity" - points where Frontex officials will be additonally deployed to help process migrants' personal data and asylum requests.
