Constituent session of the Serbian Parliament's in progress, opposition creates chaos

After the singing of the national anthem, the opposition already started disrupting the session, and they got up from their seats and started blowing whistles and showing banners.
The new convocation of the parliament will be constituted by the confirmation of at least two thirds of the parliamentary mandates.

President of Senate: I never supported unicameralism, but we need to reduce number of MPs

The President of the Senate, Anca Dragu, on Wednesday said that the number of MPs must be reduced, based on analysis, and specified that she never supported unicameralism. "We had a referendum in November 2009 in which Romanian citizens expressed their wish that the number of MPs had to be significantly reduced to 300 and that the Parliament be unicameral, instead of bicameral.

Bulgarian MPs Will Not Work on September 15

The deputies will not meet on September 15 this year, but they will work extraordinarily on Tuesday, September 19, the MPs decided this morning on a proposal by the Speaker of the Parliament Dimitar Glavchev, BGNES reported.

It is supposed that this is dictated by commitments connected with the start of the school year in Bulgaria. 

MPs Will Not Be Freezing Their Salaries

MPs will not be freezing their salaries. This was made clear after the vote on the new rules of procedure of the National Assembly, endorsed after a final vote in parliament today, BNR reported.

The Bulgarian Socialist Party proposal that the MPs' basic salary remain unaltered at the December 2016 level throughout the entire term of the 44th National Assembly, was rejected.

Bulgaria's Parliament to Reconvene for Last Sessions

Bulgarian MPs are set to return from their Christmas and New Year recess on Wednesday for their last parliamentary season before the current legislature is dissolved.

The change of Bulgaria's electoral system was one of the thorny issues Parliament was expected to deal with this week and possibly for several more days until its dissolution.
