Nation Alliance slams escalation during Akşener visit to Black Sea region

Main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP) leader Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu has said a verbal attack against İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener in the Black Sea province of Rize is an organized act.

The perpetrators of the incident "have not taken their share of democracy" he said, speaking to private Sözcü TV on May 20.

CHP leader may consider becoming presidential candidate: İYİ Party head

Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu, leader of the main opposition Republican People's Party (CHP), may be a candidate in Turkey's 2023 presidential election, an opposition politician said on April 14. 

"Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu may consider becoming a presidential candidate. There is no harm there," Meral Akşener, leader of the opposition Good (İYİ) Party, told reporters in the parliament.

‘İYİ party has no intention to become part of People’s Alliance’

İYİ (Good) Party has no plans to be a part of the People's Alliance of the ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) and the Nationalist Movement Party (MHP), İYİ Party leader Meral Akşener said on April 14.

"I am telling your little partner and its friends; I have no intention of being among you," she said, addressing the İYİ Party group members at the parliament.

İYİ Party leader criticizes withdrawal from Istanbul Convention

İYİ (Good) Party leader Meral Akşener criticized the government's decision to exit the Istanbul Convention, a pact designed to counter violence against women, on March 23.

"They do not have any concerns about protecting women or our children. Their only priority is to protect their seats. The Istanbul Convention keeps alive," she said, addressing her party members at the parliament.

İYİ Party leader vows to fight for women’s rights no matter what

İYİ (Good) Party Chair Meral Akşener has vowed to continue her fight unshakably to promote women's right in every field of life.

"I will never quit my struggle even if death awaits me at the very end and I am left alone. This is the promise of a Muslim Turkish woman," Akşener told her parliamentary group on March 10 as she devoted her weekly address to International Women's Day.
