Magnitude 5.1 quake jolts central Turkey
A magnitude 5.1 earthquake struck Turkey's central Konya province, the country's disaster authority announced on Nov. 8.
The quake shook the Meram district of the Konya province at 8.43 p.m. local time (1743GMT), according to the Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD).
It occurred at a depth of 6.82 kilometers (4.2 miles) below the surface, it added.

Mayor takes town’s pulse on taxi ride
The mayor of Meram, a district of Konya province in Turkey's heartland Anatolia, has given taxi rides to the town's residents to listen to their complaints and suggestions.
Mustafa Kavuş took a seat behind the wheel for three hours to transport people across the town, which has a population around 350,000.

Iranian Kazem Moradi, 43, was kidnapped for ransom and was subjected to torture, Doğan News Agency reported on May 19.
