Greece Gradually Lifts Lockdown, Retail Shops Reopened
After months of lockdown, retail shops in Greece will open on Monday, April 5, Deputy Minister for Civil Protection Nikos Chardalias announced on Wednesday.
Customers — with appointments — will be permitted to do their shopping under extremely strict anti-virus measures, Chardalias stated. Large super-stores and malls will not be open at all, however.

Retail sales volume up 2% in January
Turkey's retail sales volume with constant prices jumped 2% year-on-year in January, according to official figures released on March 12.
Sales of food, drinks, and tobacco increased 12.3% during the month, the Turkish Statistical Institute (TÜİK) said.
Automotive fuels and non-food sales dropped 5.8% and 0.6%, respectively.

Sales in services and retail down almost 10% last year
Ljubljana – The Covid-19 lockdown that started in March last year and that has persisted in various forms had a significant impact on the volume of sales in the services sector and retail in 2020, as it was down by a combined 9.6% compared to the year before.
Retailers also see problems in measures
The number of customers that supermarkets can serve has fallen 70% after the government's decision to reduce the maximum number of shoppers in a store at any given time, plus the weekend curfew from 6 p.m., according to a survey by the Research Institute of Retail Consumer Goods (IELKA).

Retail revenue in 2020 down almost 10% year-on-year
Ljubljana – Revenue in retail in real terms in Slovenia was down last year by 9.7% compared to 2019, the Statistics Office reported on Wednesday. The largest drop, by 23.6%, was recorded by shops specialised in sale of motor fuels.
Decline in sales turnover despite long queues
The first week of the winter sales with the stores open was positive for retailers after two-and-a-half months of closure, but revenues were expected to be significantly below last year's equivalent week, according to a survey conducted by the Athens Traders' Association.
