Merkel joins foreign leaders congratulating Vucic

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has sent a message to Aleksandar Vucic congratulating him on his success in the presidential elections held on April 2.

"Your country faces great challenges. A resolute continuation of the reform course, further steps towards the European Union, but also regional reconciliation and cooperation are important tasks," Merkel said, and added:

Vucic arrives in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic arrived in Sarajevo on Wednesday afternoon for a summit of Western Balkan PMs, scheduled for Thursday, March 16.

He travelled to Sarajevo from Berlin, where he met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday.

Merkel looks forward to detailed talks with Trump: Gov't spokesman

German Chancellor Angela Merkel is looking forward to an elaborate exchange of views on a variety of issues with U.S. President Donald Trump when they meet in Washington on March 14, Merkel's spokesman Steffen Seibert said on March 13.

Seibert said that the two leaders will meet for more than 2-1/2 hours and will then continue their deliberations at a working lunch after that.

Merkel: The DM would have a different value than the Euro

The German Chancellor Angela Merkel made a peculiar statement during the Munich Security Meeting. She said that the ECB’s monetary policy regarding the Euro is not based on Germany but rather it is adjusted on countries like Portugal, Slovenia or Slovakia, arguing that if the DM was still in circulation it would have a different value that what the Euro has now.
