Merkel Warns US, Britain no Longer Reliable Partners

Europe "must take its fate into its own hands" faced with a western alliance divided by Brexit and Donald Trump's presidency, German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Sunday, reported AFP.

"The times in which we could completely depend on others are on the way out. I've experienced that in the last few days," Merkel told a crowd at an election rally in Munich, southern Germany.

German Chancellor Angela Merkel said Monday that millions of Europeans were counting on the success of incoming French president Emmanuel Macron, reported AFP.

"Macron carries the hopes of millions of French people and also many in Germany and across Europe," she told reporters, saying she was "very pleased" by his victory.

Merkel joins foreign leaders congratulating Vucic

German Chancellor Angela Merkel has sent a message to Aleksandar Vucic congratulating him on his success in the presidential elections held on April 2.

"Your country faces great challenges. A resolute continuation of the reform course, further steps towards the European Union, but also regional reconciliation and cooperation are important tasks," Merkel said, and added:

Vucic arrives in Sarajevo

SARAJEVO - Serbian PM Aleksandar Vucic arrived in Sarajevo on Wednesday afternoon for a summit of Western Balkan PMs, scheduled for Thursday, March 16.

He travelled to Sarajevo from Berlin, where he met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel on Tuesday.
