Vanessa Safavi, recipient of the 2012 Illy Present/Future Prize, focuses on the female figure, exploring how it is captured in art. In "Turns and Returned," her third solo exhibition in Athens, the Swiss-Iranian artist presents a series of new wall sculptures and photographic works, in which silicon plays a central role.

In "That's Mine Bitch! Do Not Touch. Back Off," Konstantin Kakanias revives his fictional heroine, Mrs Tependris, in a campaign for the return of the Parthenon Marbles to Greece and other adventures that address whether comedy is one of the best ways to explore the thornier questions of life and society.

Navine G. Khan-Dossos's solo show, "Shoot the Women First," on display at The Breeder through March 10, reflects on the role of women, as regarded by society, as both perpetrators and victims of violence, questioning what it means to be both a menace and a target.

Choreographer Marianna Kavallieratou explores definitions of gender in "They," a new piece she is presenting at Bios from February 5 to 8, featuring dancers Alexandros Vardaxoglou and Alexis Fousekis. Kavallieratou, a graduate of the London Contemporary Dance School and The Place, danced in the 1990s with Robert Wilson at the Watermill in New York, where she also later taught.

Popular writing duo Thanasis Papathanasiou and Michalis Reppas have adapted Nikos Kazantzakis's emblematic novel "Zorba the Greek" for the stage in a Greek production directed by veteran Stamatis Fassoulis and starring Grigoris Valtinos in the title role.

Artists Alexandros Drymonitis, Alyssa Moxley, Antidrom, Delia Gonzalez and Kostadis have each been commissioned by sound art curator Andrew Spyrou to prepare a new work using recordings and sonic inspirations encountered within a 0.5 kilometer radius of Atopos CVC in the Metaxourgeio district of central Athens.

The Austrian Embassy and the City of Athens present an exhibition of works by Maria Lassnig (1919-2014), which is curated by Hans Ulrich Obrist and comprises the last show he was able to put together with the influential Austrian artist before she died.

The Bios venue in downtown Athens is screening iconic silent movies, accompanied by music, on its rooftop. On Wednesday, July 12, it will be showing Henri-Georges Clouzot's "L'Enfer" (Inferno), a tale of crazy jealousy inspired by Dante and Proust, which was unfinished when released in 1964 and is shot partly in black-and-white and partly in color. The screening starts at 9.15 p.m.

Seven Athenian neighborhoods have been put in the spotlight by 15 architectural firms and 37 young architects in the Arch Points event, running from June 9 to 11. Getting under way at 9 p.m.

Music, street performers, graffiti artists and even acrobats will be among the entertainment at the Festival of Colors at Kerameikos on the weekend of June 17 and 18. The theory behind the festival, which will be complemented by live performances against a backdrop of street art, is that color brings life and strength to the streets of the neighborhood.
