Vanessa Safavi | Athens | To August 31

Vanessa Safavi, recipient of the 2012 Illy Present/Future Prize, focuses on the female figure, exploring how it is captured in art. In "Turns and Returned," her third solo exhibition in Athens, the Swiss-Iranian artist presents a series of new wall sculptures and photographic works, in which silicon plays a central role.

They | Athens | February 5-8

Choreographer Marianna Kavallieratou explores definitions of gender in "They," a new piece she is presenting at Bios from February 5 to 8, featuring dancers Alexandros Vardaxoglou and Alexis Fousekis. Kavallieratou, a graduate of the London Contemporary Dance School and The Place, danced in the 1990s with Robert Wilson at the Watermill in New York, where she also later taught.

Clouzot's L'Enfer | Athens | July 12

The Bios venue in downtown Athens is screening iconic silent movies, accompanied by music, on its rooftop. On Wednesday, July 12, it will be showing Henri-Georges Clouzot's "L'Enfer" (Inferno), a tale of crazy jealousy inspired by Dante and Proust, which was unfinished when released in 1964 and is shot partly in black-and-white and partly in color. The screening starts at 9.15 p.m.

Festival of Colors | Athens | June 17-18

Music, street performers, graffiti artists and even acrobats will be among the entertainment at the Festival of Colors at Kerameikos on the weekend of June 17 and 18. The theory behind the festival, which will be complemented by live performances against a backdrop of street art, is that color brings life and strength to the streets of the neighborhood.
