Today the weather in Bulgaria will be mostly sunny.

There will be temporary increases in cloud cover mainly over the mountainous and extreme southern regions, but there will be almost no precipitation.

We welcome the first day of February with fluctuating clouds with frequent breaks during the day, but no precipitation. Light snow is still possible to drift over some mountain massifs and in separate points of Eastern Bulgaria, but the amounts will be insignificant. Daytime temperatures on Wednesday will be in the range of 4 to 9 degrees Celsius, from minus 1 to minus 7 in the mountains.

As the Balkans winds have broken the warm winter spell in the country, Istanbul is likely to receive heavy snowfall on the weekend, meteorologists have said, adding that the Siberian cold wave will also hit the country as of Feb. 5.

Rain and, in some parts of the country, snow will persist Friday, but phenomena will be less intense.

In the capital Athens, there could be thunderstorms early in the day in the southern suburbs and rain will fall locally throughout the day, but the capital is not expected to experience major traffic and transport disruptions as it did Thursday.

"On Thursday, January 26, first in southeastern Serbia, and by the end of the day in other parts of Serbia, snow can be expected! A cold Koava wind will blow. The highest daily temperature will be from 0 to 4 degrees Celsius. From Friday, January 27, until Sunday afternoon, January 29, it will be snowing with minor interruptions!

Though the drought experienced throughout the country since last October has started to threaten agricultural production by "exceeding critical limits one by one," the possibility of compensation will continue if it rains in a week, sector representatives say.

The warmer temperatures of late January are over. The lowest temperature is on Mount Musala - minus 8 degrees Celsius. The rains are set - they have already started in the extreme southwestern regions, as well as in the northwestern part of the country. This was announced on BNT by the forecaster from NIMH Anastasia Stoycheva.

A Mediterranean cyclone will pass through the country. The weather will be mostly cloudy, windy and rainy. During the day, the wind will be oriented from the west-northwest and cold air will invade with it.

And on Thursday it will remain very windy, on the northern slopes of the mountains with a particularly strong and gusty southerly wind. Cloudiness will be changeable, more significant over the mountains and in places, mainly on their southern sides, it will rain.
