At least one person has died and several injured after Moscow experienced its heaviest day of snowfall in a day since records began, Russian officials say.

Moscow's meteorological service said Moscow had seen more than half its average monthly snowfall in the space of 24 hours, beating the previous record set in 1957, Interfax news agency reported on February 4.

Today it will be mostly sunny with increasing cloudiness sometimes,  the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) told FOCUS News Agency.

There will be light wind, mainly from west-northwest.

Maximum temperatures of between 5°C and 10°C in most regions, in Sofia around 6°C.

Greece will be hit by a storm front between Friday night and Sunday, according to the Hellenic Meteorological Service (EMY).

More specifically, the bad weather - including powerful southerly winds, reaching 8 and possibly 9 on the Beaufort scale and heavy rainfall - will affect the Ionian Sea islands and western Greece beginning on Friday night.

A tropical cyclone crossed the island state by destroying roads, uprooting trees and knocking down electric poles, Nova TV reported.

The storm brought heavy rains and caused serious floods. Several areas of New Zealand have declared state of emergency. Precipitation, accompanied by strong winds, will continue today, mainly on the southern island of the country.

Substantial cloudiness is expected over the country today, with light rain in some parts of Western and Central Bulgaria.

There will be up to moderate, in Eastern Bulgaria sometimes strong wind from south-southwest.

Air pollution in the western province of Bursa has reached alarming levels, posing risks to human health, the latest data from the Environment and Urbanization Ministry’s Air Quality Index has shown. 

Today it will be mostly sunny with increasing clouds sometimes. The wind will ease and even stop in many areas.

The temperatures will decrease a little during the day, the maximum temperatures will range between 9°C and 14°C, the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) told FOCUS News Agency.

There will be moderate northwestern wind. It will get warmer, with minimum temperatures of between minus 5 and zero degrees and maximum ones reaching 9°C to 14°C, Georgi Tsekov fromthe National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) told FOCUS News Agency.

Icicles hang off oranges in an orchard in Argolida, in the northern Peloponnese, on Saturday morning following a cold snap. After plunging to -4 degrees Celsius (24.8 Fahrenheit) in the Argos Plain on Friday night, temperatures rose slightly over the weekend. It was unclear whether a series of cold snaps will create problems for citrus fruit harvests in the region.
