Foreign Ministry Warns Bulgarian Tourists of Avalanche Danger at Ski Resorts in Austria

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs warns Bulgarian citizens who are currently in ski resorts in Austria that because of the heavy snowfall mixed with rain and the strong winds in recent days, the warning of high avalanche danger in the country remains in force.

Maximum Temperatures Mostly Between Minus 1°C and 4°C Today

Today, in many lowland areas there will be clouds or fog. Around noon, the clouds will start to break and clear. The maximum temperatures will range mostly between minus 1°C and 4°C. This is the weather forecast of the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH), Georgi Tsekov told FOCUS News Agency

Strong Snowfall and an Erupting Volcano Caused Chaos in Japan

Hundreds of cars have been blocked on Monday night on Tuesday in the Yamate Tokyo Tunnel due to heavy snowfall. Some passengers were forced to walk to get to the escape stairs and get out, news agencies reported. The 18-kilometer-long tunnel underground in downtown Tokyo is considered the longest in Japan.

NIMH: Mostly Sunny with Increasing Cloudiness Sometimes

The atmospheric pressure will continue to increase and will significantly exceed the average for January. Today it will be mostly sunny with temporarily increasing cloudiness.

There will be light to moderate northeastern wind. The maximum temperatures will range between zero and 5°C,  the National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology (NIMH) told FOCUS News Agency.

Cyclone "Albena" and the Snow are Going Away

Today, in most of the country, rainfall will continue,  at noon and on the Black Sea coast rain will transform into snow. The rainfall in North and East Bulgaria will be significant. It will be windy, in the Danube Plain and East Bulgaria, a temporary and stormy northwest wind that will cause snow blizzards and the formation of droughts and winds.

Meteorologists have Warned of Strong Winds and Heavy Rainfalls

Warning of dangerous weather was announces for tomorrow by National Institute of Meteorology and Hydrology. The Mediterranean Cyclone Albena will pass through the country, the BNR announced.

Due to the expected heavy rainfall and strong wind, orange code has been declared for all North and Eastern Bulgaria as well as for the Haskovo and Kardzhali regions.
