Part of the Third Line of the Sofia Subway to be Put into Exploitation in the Summer

Part of the newly constructed third subway line will be released in late July or early August. This was announced by Mayor Yordanka Fandakova after an inspection at the Hadzhi Dimitar metro station.

It was decided for all 8 metro stations from Vladimir Vazov Boulevard to Zhitnitsa Street to be put into exploitation.

Confusion over public transport cards

Given the 90 percent reduction in urban transport services, a growing number of commuters that had purchased long-duration bus, train and metro cards are reportedly demanding action from the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA). 

The appeals have come particularly from commuters with three-month or annual cards.

Transport stoppages coincide with heat wave

Bus, trolley and metro disruptions on Thursday

Commuters in Athens will face disruptions on Thursday as bus, metro and trolley bus services will be disrupted by work stoppages in protest over a series of grievances, including the package of fiscal measures which is due to be voted through Parliament in the evening.

More specifically, the metro will not run between 5 a.m. and 9 a.m. while services will halt early at 9 p.m.
