There are those who enjoy observing a suffering Europe due to economic and energy crisis in Türkiye but a weakening Europe is not to Türkiye's advantage, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has said, stressing that the country should focus on the problems of the continent in these difficult days and ongoing war in Ukraine.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu will start a three-day African tour that will include Senegal, Ghana and Benin, the ministry said in a written statement on Oct. 24.

The world is shaken by the effects of the war in Ukraine and tested by war, although the wounds of the Covid-19 pandemic were not healed yet, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said emphasizing that global stability and prosperity were under threat, and that rising energy and food prices threatened the whole world.

Türkiye on Oct. 11 called for a ceasefire in Ukraine ahead of a meeting between President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in the Kazakh capital Astana.

"A ceasefire must be established as soon as possible. The sooner the better," Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu said in an interview with the TVnet broadcaster.

Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu spoke over the phone with his Ukrainian counterpart, Dmytro Kuleba, on Oct. 10 and discussed the latest wave of Russian missile attacks on the capital Kiev and other major Ukrainian cities.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu has announced that he will be representing his country at the funeral of Britain's Queen Elizabeth II on Sept. 19.

"I will visit the U.K. capital, London, on Monday and participate [in the funeral of the Queen] as a representative of Türkiye," he said on Sept. 14.

During an annual international conference held in the Slovenian city of Bled, Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu corrected the mistake of the panel's presenter who said "Turkey" instead of "Türkiye" while introducing him.

Top Turkish diplomat attended the 17th Bled Strategic Forum on Aug. 29 as a speaker at a panel called "How many Europes exist inside Europe?"

Türkiye's top diplomat has accused the Western nations, mostly the European Union countries and the United States, of deliberately complicating and prolonging the visa procedures for Turkish nationals, stressing that the envoys of these states will be summoned and urged in early September.

With Sweden and Finland are set to convene on Aug. 26 for the first meeting of the joint mechanism committed under the trilateral memorandum, the Turkish foreign minister said on Aug. 11.
