Iran hits back at Syria truce criticism from Turkey

Iran has hit back at "unconstructive" Turkish allegations that Tehran's allies were violating a fragile cease-fire in Syria, accusing rebels of breaking the truce.

"The current cease-fire in Syria has been violated repeatedly by the anti-government armed opposition groups," Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesman Bahram Ghasemi said on Jan. 4.

Turkish, Greek FMs to meet in New York ahead of Cyprus talks

Turkey and Greece's respective foreign ministers, Mevlüt Çavuşoğlu and Nikos Kotzias, will meet in New York to discuss the Cyprus reunification talks in Geneva next week, Turkish diplomatic sources have said. 

Both Çavuşoğlu and Kotzias are in New York to separately meet new U.N. Secretary-General Antonio Gueterres, with the former set to meet the new chief on Jan. 5. 

President Erdoğan hosts seven-year-old 'Syrian Twitter girl' Bana in Ankara

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan hosted on Dec. 21 the seven-year-old "Syrian Twitter girl" Bana Alabed who has attracted the world's attention while tweeting from war-torn Aleppo, state-run Anadolu Agency has reported.

Erdoğan hosted Bana and her family in the Presidential Palace in Ankara.  

Turkey, Russia 'know' FETÖ behind attack on Russian envoy: Turkish FM tells Kerry

Turkey and Russia "know" that a movement led by the U.S.-based Islamic cleric Fethullah Gülen was behind the attack on the Russian envoy in Ankara, Foreign Minister Mevlüt Cavuşoğlu told his U.S. counterpart John Kerry in a phone conversation on late Dec. 19, according to a Foreign Ministry official.
